Casa De Honestis

Evidence of the widespread local custom of displaying antiquities

The palace of the de Honestis family dates back to the 18th century, however it can be hypothesized that the fragments of ancient sculptures present on the facade had been used in a previous building.

The element of greatest interest is the door on the road, made of stone, with ancient fragments and an inscription ("HORTO / HONESTIS"), which attests to how the passage once allowed access to the family's vegetable garden.

To the right of the portal there is a coat of arms, with two arms holding a tree on three mountains.

Finally, on the left, a large rosette, perhaps from a ceiling, and in the center an ancient marble head of an emperor, inserted into a modern stone clypeus.
