The ancient settlement of the Poor Clares

The church of Santa Chiara was founded in the 15th century, but not much remains of its Renaissance phase. Indeed, the façade presents substantial seventeenth-century renovations, with the baroque portal bearing the date 1693.

The façade, however, presents a facing made of squared ashlars, with the Franciscan coat of arms placed above the portal. Furthermore, the coat of arms of a noble family is visible.

Of some interest, however, is the urban complex that was created in the Renaissance period between the churches of Santa Chiara and Santa Lucia and the Hospital of the Knights of Malta, because of their proximity.
