Porta Marina

The only surviving gate of the ancient walls

The gate, which today appears as an isolated monument, is the only surviving example in the city of the gates incorporated into the city wall system.

Commissioned by the Universitas of Barletta, it features a series of coats of arms on the façade facing the city.

On the side that opens towards the sea there is a large inscription, on the sides of which there are two coats of arms of the city of Barletta, which commemorate those who constructed the gate in 1751.
