Man at arms and prominent member of the Aragonese court, he commissioned numerous interventions in his fiefdom of Venafro
Having served for a long time in the mercenary company of the leader Giacomo Caldora, following his alternating political obediences for a certain period, Francesco Pandone was also chamberlain of King Ladislaus of Durazzo and strengthened his position in the difficult years of the reign of Giovanna II. He finally switched allegiance to Alfonso of Aragon, with whom he bartered the surrender of Venafro in exchange for his enfeoffment. From that moment on, with the title of count, he consistently supported the Alfonsine parties, serving in military and diplomatic missions, and implemented an expansionist policy in the Molise territories. Having become a leading exponent of the Aragonese court, he also dedicated himself to commissions in his own fiefdoms, as demonstrated by the interventions he ordered in the castle of Venafro, in the Torre del Mercato and in the city walls.

Il ciclo di affreschi, forse attribuibile ad una bottega napoletana, ritrae i cavalli posseduti dal conte di Venafro, Enrico Pandone, e ricopre le pareti delle stanze del piano nobile del Castello.
